Nailing the Startup Interview // BUSINESS 192

Steve Schlafman, Principal, Lerer Ventures

Thursday, March 8th from 7:30 - 9:00 pm

There are countless books written about interviewing, and thousands of self-proclaimed experts who try to prep us. Those types of resources have certainly helped job candidates around the world land the job of their dreams, but outdated interview advice & tips aren't always useful. The reality is that jobs are more competitive than ever before and the traditional interview is changing, especially in the startup world.

You’re not going to land the perfect job by just having a solid resume anymore, you need to find ways to differentiate yourself. Learn how to bring "Gifts", the things that resumes will never be able to communicate. They’re the ideas, the relationships, the execution, the intangibles that are impossible to capture on paper. This class will teach you how to prove that you can do the job better than anyone else starting immediately.

Note: This will be a short lecture, followed by Q&A and a break-out session where students can begin to practice the principles covered in class.

Steve Schlafman is a Principal at Lerer Ventures. Steve was previously VP of Business Development at Stickybits Inc. / Turntable.fm and Director of Venture Investments at The Kraft Group, a diversified holding company focused on sports & entertainment, paper & packaging, real estate development, and private equity.
